1. The inline filter traps particulate before it reaches the head - the last guard for the nozzles.
2. Fit it with the flow-direction arrow pointing toward the printhead.
3. Power down and relieve ink-line pressure first.
4. Swap the capsule on its quick-connect fittings, then prime the line to fill the filter and push out air.
5. Run a nozzle check and watch for steady flow before printing.
6. Note the date - inline filters are typically a 3 to 6 month part.

Replace it when you see:

• Frequent nozzle dropouts that survive a head clean
• Unstable ink pressure or noticeably reduced flow
• Visible debris or discolouration in the capsule
